Course Content
Producing programmes that can find an audience anywhere in the world is a skill that owes as much to understanding the business of television as it does to making programmes. The focus of this course is on television as a business. A selection of modules covering worldwide media rights; finding project partners; locating finance; negotiating international funding; managing complex projects or selling ideas to potential broadcasters and making pilot programmes, alL aimed at equipping participants with the right skills to work in the television industry as producers or business managers.
The course engages with four broad aspects of international documentary and factual television production.
- Diversity in documentary and factual programmes and practices in different international settings.
- Practices and issues involved in developing and producing content specifically for international broadcast.
- Practices and issues involved in raising production finance, agreeing exploitation rights and contract law.
- Reviewing and understanding practices and issues raised by producing content for international audiences
If you opt for the International TV Project in Semester 3 you can choose to complete your project in Singapore. A Singapore based independent television production company will arrange access to the very latest digital production facilities.
