Shopping

Just a short walk from the university campus, Preston's thriving centre has everything you'll ever need in its shopping centres, from major high street names to cool designer labels, not to mention music, books, sportswear and food shops.

Fishergate and St. George's Centre are the city's two main shopping centres, with a wide choice of reasonably priced, modern shops in a convenient, safe and clean shopping environment.

As with any large town, the major chain and department stores are in the city centre, such as Marks & Spencer, Debenhams, Next, River Island, Miss Selfridge, and HMV.

Preston's indoor market is a haven for international students, selling all types of fresh meats, fruit and vegetables. And on selected days, there is also one of the best open markets in the UK, selling bargains galore.

If you are looking for speciality shopping then you will enjoy a stroll in the Victorian Miller Arcade, or the smaller, more individual shops closer to the University catering particularly for students.

And if you explore further you will find many other shopping centres in the region – from large shopping malls on the outskirts of towns and cities, such as the Trafford Centre, near Manchester and Cheshire Oaks near Liverpool, to charming market towns in the countryside, such as Garstang and Skipton.
