International Focus

The University of Central Lancashire is a UK university with a truly international focus. The campus is home to students and staff from many different social and ethnic backgrounds across the UK, and from almost every country in the world .

The university has formal links with over 100 institutions worldwide and believes that all its members will benefit from sharing knowledge and experience with people from other countries and backgrounds.

It was one of the first institutions in the UK to establish links with universities in China in the early 1980s. This has led to a permanent office in China, with locally based UK and Chinese staff.

Worldwide links

The university also has excellent links with institutions in Europe through the ERASMUS and SOCRATES schemes. Many of our European exchange schemes offer the opportunity to study at a partner institution and gain an academic award or professional qualification from that country, as well as a UK degree or diploma.

Elsewhere, direct links to institutions within the USA, Africa and Australia, and newly developed links with South East Asia, Japan, Russia, the Middle East, the Indian sub continent, Central America and beyond create opportunities for student and staff interchange. Students and staff benefit from these and similar international developments all of which contribute greatly to the quality of academic and cultural life.

In the area of academic development the university is increasingly recognised as a pioneer in collaborative international education. Many of our lecturers are engaged in collaborative teaching, research and consultancy with lecturers and professors throughout the world.
