Best-selling author to deliver 9/11 lecture

The Irish War, by Tony Geraghty

Best-selling author and former reporter Tony Geraghty is visiting the Department to deliver a lecture on reporting conflict in the post 9/11 world.

As a novelist on military topics, Tonyís books include the definitive history of the SAS Regiment (Who Dares Wins) and The Irish War, a work which provoked an unsuccessful action against him under UK censorship laws.

A former political reporter with The Guardian and Boston Globe, and chief reporter and defence correspondent with The Sunday Times, Tony was awarded the Freedom of the Press Award by the London Press Club in 1999.Tony Geraghty

His lecture, titled "The New Challenge to Journalists: Interpreting and reporting conflict in the post 9/11 world" is open to all of the Departmentís students.

The one-hour lecture will take place on Monday February 21 in Harris Building, Room 155 at 4pm.
