Broadcast graduate lands IRN accolade

By UKJournalism

Jonathan is always ready for action

As our MA in Broadcast Journalism continues to produce the cream of the journalistic crop, yet another of its graduates has landed a top award.

Former student on the course Jonathan Blake has landed the Young Journalist of the Year award at the IRN (Independent Radio News) Awards.

Jonathan joined Manchesterís Key 103 news team after graduating, and was soon providing confident and authoritative reports for the radio station. Whenever thereís a big breaking story in Manchester heís there.

Itís Jonathan's nose for news that has given him his success. He was at the school gates when a teenager died following a playground fight, and in the thick of the action when Fathers for Justice campaigners handcuffed the Childrenís Minister.

Campaign

He was also outside the famous Boddingtons brewery at the start of the campaign to save the "Cream of Manchester", proving that when it comes to news reporting, he hits the ground running.

Jonathanís produced incisive special reports on issues such as Anti Social Behaviour Orders and heís proving to be an excellent all-rounder, now co-presenting the flagship sports show on Key 103ís "Game On".

IRN Editor Jon Godel said: "Jonathanís got a big future ahead of him. Heís great at interviewing, meeting people and telling a story in everyday language. A real good all rounder."
