Journalism students at UCLan are to tour the media operation at one of the country's top football clubs.

Premiership club Blackburn Rovers, who are also competing in the UEFA Cup this season, will give behind-the-scenes access to third-year undergraduates on the University's BA Hons Sports Journalism course.

The students will inspect facilities ranging from the press box and interview areas to the club's in-house TV channel and radio station.

Charles Lambert, senior lecturer in sports journalism, said: "Blackburn Rovers have led the way in developing media operations for many years. This will be a valuable opportunity for our students to see exactly how a major club handles its media responsibilities. It will stand them in good stead for the future."
