International Journalism arrives
By UKJournalism
Journalism is becoming increasingly international. And so is the Department.
Two new courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level are being developed for students who wish to study and explore journalism internationally and in different national settings.
MA International Journalism and BA (Hons) International Journalism are due to start this September, subject to validation.
Exciting and challenging
ìThese are exciting and challenging courses for students with an international outlook who want to learn practical journalism and study how journalism operates in the world,î says journalism lecturer, Geoff Ward.
He was appointed International Journalism Co-ordinator last October and given the task of developing courses and forging links with overseas institutions.
ìThe new courses extend our present interests and activities in the international arena,î says Geoff. ìAnd they have given us the chance to build flexible courses that are suitable for a range of students. For instance, the MA has options that make it suitable for those who have studied journalism ñ or worked as journalists ñ and for those studying journalism for the first time.
Interest
ìWe are expecting a lot of interest from overseas students and for this reason we have built into the courses English language support for those who need it.î
The department is also working to extend partnerships links, co-operation and training with overseas universities and journalism industries.
